Background

The memory of the ties between Canada and the Netherlands is written in hardship and blood. In keeping with Dutch tradition, the Burlington event has two separate components:

  • the May 2nd flag raising at Burlington City Hall to represent the memory of the many lives lost in the months leading up to and during the Liberation of the Netherlands in April and May of 1945
  • the CNFA evening program to represent the festive Liberation Day, usually held on May 5

These are the event details for May 2nd and May 4th, 2009.
